FCRA Update: Government Grants Validity Extension to Eligible Entities
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, has issued a public notice dated 24th June 2025 announcing an extension of the validity of certain FCRA registration certificates in the public interest. This decision follows the earlier notification No. II/21022/23(22)/2020-FCRA-III, dated 28th March 2025. According to the latest notice, the validity of FCRA registration certificates that were earlier extended till 30th June 2025 and for which renewal applications are still under consideration will now be deemed valid up to 30th September 2025 or until the date of disposal of the renewal application, whichever is earlier.
Additionally, the registration certificates of FCRA-registered entities whose 5 year validity is set to expire between 1st July 2025 and 30th September 2025, and who have submitted or will submit their renewal applications before the expiry of their validity, will also stand extended until 30th September 2025 or the date of decision on their renewal application, whichever occurs earlier.
It is important to note that in cases where the renewal application is rejected, the validity of the registration certificate will be considered as expired on the date of such refusal. From that point onward, the concerned association shall not be entitled to receive or utilise any foreign contribution.
This decision has been taken with the approval of the Competent Authority and issued by Mr. Prabh Bansal, Joint Director (FCRA). All concerned entities are advised to take note of this update and act accordingly.
