Govt Introduces New Excel-Based IMS Offline Tool on GST Portal to Boost Taxpayer Convenience
The GST authorities have introduced a new Excel-based tool called the IMS Offline Tool on the GST portal, enabling taxpayers to complete their GST filings offline without the use of the internet. This tool has been introduced with the aim of easing compliance and encouraging taxpayer convenience.
This tool will significantly reduce taxpayers' tension and will curb issues faced by them while furnishing their GST filings due to low and inconsistent internet speed. The tool will enable taxpayers to undertake actions on both individual and bulk invoices in an efficient manner.
The Invoice Management System (IMS) was officially introduced on the GST portal on October 01, 2024, allowing taxpayers to work on invoices submitted through GSTR-1, GSTR-1A, or IFF by the suppliers.
It enables recipients to accept, reject, or mark invoices as pending, directly affecting Input Tax Credit (ITC) claims in GSTR-2B. Its primary purpose is to simplify reconciliation, reduce ITC mismatches, and improve accuracy in GSTR-3B filings by empowering buyers to manage supplier invoices actively.
The IMS Offline Tool can be accessed directly at the GST portal (www.gst.gov.in) by simply navigating to Downloads -> Offline Tools -> IMS Offline Tool to download the tool.
For complete information about how to use the IMS Offline Tool (Version 1.0), refer to the advisory below.
