Govt Not Considering Review of Corporate Tax Cuts, Says Pankaj Chaudhary
The Union Minister of State for Finance of India, Pankaj Chaudhary, has informed that currently the government is not proposing to review the effectiveness of corporate tax granted in recent years.
A question was asked in the Lok Sabha regarding the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). While replying to a question, Chaudhary said that the scheme is demand-driven wage employment and the funds are released as per the requirement.
MGNREGA is a welfare scheme that aims to improve the livelihood in the rural areas by providing 100 days of guaranteed wage employment in a financial year.
As per the table showing the details of the budget estimate and revised estimate for MNREGA, the highest budget allocation was Rs 86,000 crore in Financial Year 2024-25, which has been retained for FY 2025-26 as well.
In the financial year 2022-23, the budget estimate was Rs 73,000 crore, which was later revised to Rs 89,400 crore. In 2023-24, the budget estimate was Rs 60,000 crore, which was increased to Rs 86,000 crore.
The minister said that in the current financial year 2025-26 (as of 04.03.2026), Rs 80,616.39 crore has already been released to the states/union territories. This includes Rs 65,519.35 crore for the wage component and Rs 15,097.03 crore for material and admin.
Responding to a question about living standards, the government stated that rising budgetary outlays and tax revenues due to economic growth have generally helped improve the standard of living for a majority of citizens.
