GST Fake Registration Drive not a door to door survey: Clarifies Govt
In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India and the guidelines given by the State SGST Department and the CGST Department from 16:05.2023, the investigation campaign is being conducted against such taxpayers registered in the state who are fake or non-existent. In this sequence, it is clarified that the said investigation campaign is not a campaign of door to door investigation or survey of the dealers in any form.
This investigation is only to know the reality of the existence and business activities of those taxpayers whose GST numbers and names have been received by the SGST department and the CGST department from the GST Network portal.
In the context of SGST, along with the names obtained from the GST Network Portal, and on the basis of information received from the department’s B.I.U branch and field, investigation is to be done only in respect of such taxpayers, about whom there is such information that the said taxpayer is either not in existence or without any real business activity fake ITC has been made available. Since the investigation drive is only in respect of fake taxpayers, other taxpayers should not be confused in any way. If any taxpayer has any complaint of harassment/harassment against any officer/inspector, he/she can contact Deputy Commissioner (Administration), Ajmer on 0145-2425334.
