GST Return filing hampered amid Delay in auto-population of March e-invoices on GST system
Delays in the auto-population of e-invoicing in the Excel format for March on the GST portal have impacted taxpayers’ ability to file returns, according to tax practitioners, who are pressing the state Goods and Tax Services Department (SGST) to accelerate the e-invoice procedure.
In a letter to the SGST department, the Madhya Pradesh Tax Law Bar Association, MP, and Commercial Tax Practitioners Association stated that the delay in return filing has made it difficult for buyers to file credit claims.
According to the president of the Madhya Pradesh Tax Law Bar Association in MP, “the due date to file Form GSTR-1 for a given tax period is the 11th day of the succeeding month for taxpayers who file it monthly, and invoices for taxpayers with a turnover of more than Rs.5 crore must be generated through e-invoicing. The delay in automatically populating e-invoicing in Excel format on the GST portal for March has hampered the return filing process.”
Head of the Commercial Tax Practitioners Association, Advocate Devendra Sagarmal Jain stated that “Due to non-submission of returns, the buyer is having difficulty making input tax credit claims. The grievance was filed on April 5, but there has been no resolution. We have asked the department to check into the problem.”
