The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has notified a new Income Tax Return Form (ITR-B) for the procedure for Block Assessment.

CBDT notified rule 12AE, announcing Return of income to be filed under section 158BC. This return of income required to be furnished by any person on whom search has been initiated, or his books of account or other documents or any assets are requisitioned. The ITR Form will be filed relating to any search initiated under section 132 or requisition made under section 132A on or after the 1st day of September 2024.

When to use ITR-B

Normally, one has to file ITR-1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7, but if someone is having a search, he has to file form ITR-B. The form is to be specifically filed for the block period for which the search has taken place.
