GST SIB Launches Major Crackdown on Slaughterhouses in Ghaziabad
The GST department has started checking slaughterhouses operating in Gaziabad. On Monday, officials reviewed the GST returns of these slaughterhouses through a data analysis portal. During the review, some irregularities and shortcomings were found. Officials are now preparing a list of such units, and action will be taken against them soon.
Rameshwar, Additional Commissioner Grade One, Zone-1, said that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath recently instructed the GST department to verify the business records, income, and expenditure details of slaughterhouses operating in different areas. Following these instructions, the GST Special Investigation Branch (SIB) has begun investigations.
Last week, GST SIB teams conducted simultaneous raids at the Dasna and Greater Noida units of Al Nasir Exports Private Limited, a Ghaziabad-based company which exports frozen meat to Gulf countries, he said. The raids continued for about 10 hours at both locations.
During the investigation, officials found that the company had underreported its turnover by Rs 11.12 crore. They also detected GST tax evasion of about Rs 5.7 million.
GST officials also visited some slaughterhouses and carried out preliminary inspections and collected information on Monday. Officials will be conducting raids and taking action soon
