GSTAT Sees Strong Progress as Over 1,200 Appeals Filed Online, Highlighting Portal Efficiency
The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT) is consistently progressing in resolving cases. As of now, a total of 1453 cases/appeals have been filed before the GSTAT. This indicates that taxpayers and the department are actively using the GST appellate mechanism to resolve their disputes.
Among the total appeals, 196 cases belong to matters that were previously handled by the National Anti-profiteering Authority. These cases generally concern issues where businesses are examined to see whether they have passed on the benefit of reduced GST or increased ITC (Input Tax Credit) to the consumers.
The remaining 1257 cases are the regular GST appeals that have been filed online by the taxpayers. Such a large number of online appeals before the GST Appellate Tribunal reflects that the GSTAT portal is functioning smoothly, and taxpayers are not facing difficulties while filing appeals.
This also indicates that the digital system is the most convenient and user-friendly way to file appeals, as it eliminates the need to maintain physical paperwork and also helps in saving time.
GSTAT Progress Update: Out of the total 1453 cases/appeals filed before GSTAT, 196 cases pertain to National Anti-profiteering Authority and 1257 GST Appeals have been filed online so far indicating the efficiency of the GSTAT portal and ease of filing for the trade.#GSTreforms
