Hindustan Zinc Receives Rs 45.98 Lakh Penalty from CGST Authority, Plans to Appeal
The Hindustan Zinc Limited, an Indian integrated metals and mining company that is one of the world’s largest producers of zinc, lead, and silver, received a penalty order of Rs 45,98,335 on December 13, 2025.
This disclosure was made by Hindustan Zinc Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 (“SEBI Listing Regulations”).
The Company further added that a penalty order of Rs. 45,98,335 has been imposed on the Company, along with a demand for the related tax amount and interest from the Office of the Assistant Commissioner of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Rudrapur.
The tax authorities have raised concerns about whether the Input Tax Credit was correctly claimed under the relevant provisions of the CGST Act, 2017 and the IGST Act, 2017, for the financial years 2018-19 and 2019-20.
The company further added that, considering the facts of the case, it will take appropriate steps to file an appeal before the Appellate Authority and is hopeful of a favourable outcome. The company also added that there is no significant impact on financial, operational or other activities of the Company.
