The selected candidates will be appointed at Pay Level 12 (Rs.1,01,500-1,67,400) with a minimum pay of Rs. 1,01,500/- and will be eligible for promotion to Pay Level 13A1 (Rs.1,31,400-2,04,700) after completing three years of service. As per IIT Recruitment 2023 official notification, the salary for the post of Assistant Professor is in Pay Level 12 as per the 7th CPC, with a minimum pay of Rs. 1,01,500/-. After three years of service in Pay Level 12, candidates will be considered for movement to Pay Level 13A1 with a pay scale of Rs. 1,31,400-2,04,700. The salary package also includes a start-up seed grant of up to Rs. 20,00,000/- to develop research capability in the faculty member’s area of expertise, and an additional grant of Rs. 30,00,000/- as a matching equipment grant to build new capability or high-value research facility in emerging areas.
Additionally, the faculty members are eligible for a cumulative Professional Development Allowance (PDA) of Rs. 3,00,000/- for every block period of three years to meet expenses for participating in conferences, membership fees of various professional bodies, procurement of books and periodicals, and contingent expenses. The Institute also provides relocation allowances, reimbursement of telephone/mobile bills, and eligibility for the Young Faculty Incentive Fellowship, which grants an honorarium of Rs. 25,000/- per month over and above the salary. Faculty members are also eligible for chair positions that provide a grant of Rs. 5,00,000/- per annum for a period of three years, extendable up to five years, and the Institute bestows Faculty Research Awards to faculty members in recognition of their significant research contributions.
