Income-Tax Raids Shake Bengaluru Private University Over Alleged Tax Evasion
The income-tax officials on September 24, 2025, raided the locations connected to a private university in Bengaluru and outside Karnataka. The raid was started after allegations of tax evasion and an excessive increase in assets compared to declared income.
The raids started at 6AM and were directed one by one at various campuses in southern Bengaluru and Andhra Pradesh.
IT officials are investigating the allegations that the group's assets are far in excess of its reported income. Officials are also checking and verifying financial records. They are also confirming expenditures made in the name of college development, furniture purchases, and the collection of student fees.
The investigation is also targeted on student admissions. Officials are also verifying details related to the number of students admitted via management as well as through government quotas.
The number of college employees is also under investigation as part of the inquiry into the institution's financial practices.
