Income Tax Recruitment 2023: The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, UP (West) & Uttarakhand Region, Kanpur has recently announced an open recruitment drive for Meritorious Sportspersons in various games and sports for the posts of Inspector of Income Tax, Tax Assistant, and Multi-Tasking Staff. There are a total of 31 vacancies in this Recruitment drive. The job posts are temporary, but they have the potential to become permanent, and the probation period for the selected candidates will be two years. As per Income Tax Recruitment 2023 official notification the candidates need to fulfill the educational qualifications and other eligibility conditions as per the given guidelines. The recruitment process also includes certain relaxations for age and other conditions as per the DOPT guidelines for the OBC, SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, and PwD candidates.
The recruitment drive will give priority to the candidates who have participated in state or national-level games and sports mentioned in the list. The selection of candidates will be based on the evaluation of their performance in the last three years, age, and highest achievement in their respective sports events. As per Income Tax Recruitment 2023 official notification, the eligible candidates will be called for an appearance before the Committee for the verification of their original documents submitted along with the application. This recruitment drive provides an excellent opportunity for aspiring sportspersons to work in the government sector and showcases their talent while earning a decent salary.

As per Income Tax Recruitment 2023, official notification the Sports eligibility is determined by certain criteria for recruitment of a sportsperson. To be considered eligible, the individual must have participated in any of the games/sports listed in Para-05 and must be considered meritorious based on specific qualifications. These qualifications include having represented a state or the country in national or international competitions in any of the games/sports mentioned in the list at Para-05.
International meets/competitions are categorized as either Category-A or Category-B, with Category-A including events such as Olympic Games and World Championships/World Cup. Additionally, priority is given to candidates who do not have any sponsorship/ scholarship/ contract/ employment under central, state government & PSUs over those who do receive monetary compensation from Indian/ Non-Indian entities. The overall intention of the Government of India is to promote and nurture sportspersons through recruitment under the sports quota.
To be eligible for recruitment under the sports quota, a sportsperson must have achieved one of the following minimum norms in any of the games/sports mentioned in Paragraph 5. Firstly, they must have represented the country in the International Championships as mentioned in Category-A and B under Paragraph 3. If an adequate number of candidates are not available, then the second criterion is that they must have represented their state or equivalent unit in the Junior/Senior National Championship and obtained at least 3rd position. If an adequate number of candidates are still not available, then the third criterion is that they must have represented a University in the All India Inter-University Championship organized under the aegis of the Association of Indian Universities and obtained at least 2nd position.

To apply for the sports quota for Income Tax recruitment 2023, applicants must fill out the application form provided in Annexure II. The completed application must be submitted either by post or by hand to the Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (Admn.), 2nd Floor, Aayakar Bhawan, 16/69, Civil Lines, Kanpur – 208 001.
The application should be submitted within one month from the date of publication of the advertisement.
The envelope containing the application must be superscripted with “APPLICATION FOR THE POST (S) OF ————————- UNDER MERITORIOUS SPORTS PERSONS’ QUOTA”.
It is important to note that the selected candidates will be liable for posting at any place in the UP (West) & Uttarakhand Region, Kanpur.
