India’s Direct Tax Collections Show Growth in FY 2025-26 by 6.33%

The Direct Collections of the Financial Year 2025-26, as of October 12, 2025, have shown a positive growth, as per data released by the Income Tax Department. The net direct collections record Rs 11.89 lakh crore, as compared to the Rs 11.18 lakh crore during the same period last year, showing a growth of 6.33%. The major contributors to this growth are higher collections from both corporate taxes and non-corporate taxes, which include individuals, firms, and other small entities.

If we take a look at the gross collections, they also increased a little from Rs 13,60,027.21 Crore last year to Rs 13,92,161.49 Crore this year. However, the refunds have experienced a drop by nearly 15.98%, from Rs 2,41,748.88 crore last year to Rs 2,03,107.32 crore this year.

The Corporate Tax (CT) collections rose from 4,91,798.14 crore to Rs 5,01,917.69 crore, while the Non-Corporate Tax, which includes taxes paid by individuals, firms, HUFs, and others, saw a larger jump from Rs 5,93,697.86 crore to Rs 6,55,964.34 crore. Securities Transaction Tax increased slightly from Rs 30,629.97 crore to Rs 30,878.46 crore, Other Taxes (OT) dropped from Rs 2,152 crore to Rs 294 crore, showing a sharp fall.
