ISC Class 12th Chemistry Syllabus: As we all know, the ISC Class 12th examination cycle 2023 has concluded, and the new academic session of 2023-24 is about to begin. Considering this, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has published the ISC class 12th chemistry syllabus for the 2024 board exam. Every student should check the latest syllabus in order to organize their preparations. Knowing the syllabus beforehand gives students ample time to strategize their preparation.
The Paper code for the ISC class 12th Chemistry is 862. Students who want to make their career in the pharmaceutical, medical, forensic science, or nutrition domain must study chemistry subject religiously. The CISCE introduced changes to the ISC 12th chemistry curriculum due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the vast nature of the chemistry subject, it is critical to stay current with the revised and updated ISC 12th Chemistry syllabus. The detailed syllabus will give students an idea of the important themes, grade distribution, and practical details.
As the Indian School Certificate (ISC) examinations are much tougher than the comparable senior secondary examination of other boards, it is important to know about the detailed syllabus at the beginning of the new academic session. The unit-wise grading assists students in dedicating appropriate time to each chapter. Knowing the complete syllabus and unit-wise weightage ahead, allows applicants to devise the optimal exam strategy.
The ISC class 12th Chemistry subject holds a weightage of 100 marks. The ISC class 12th Chemistry exam is divided into two papers. The detailed description and syllabus of each paper are mentioned herein.
Paper I: 70 marks
Paper I is a written theory examination that will be conducted during the board examinations in 2024. Paper I is organized for 70 marks. The examination is held for 3 hours. Candidates will have to answer all questions. The Chemistry paper will have an internal choice available in two questions of 2 marks each and two questions of 3 marks each. The choice will be available in all three questions of 5 marks each. Various units of ISC Class 12th Chemistry and their respective weightage is tabulated below:
Paper II: 30 marks
The Paper II exam consists of a Practical examination, a Project Work, and a Practical File. The Paper II exam is also known as the Internal assessment. It is conducted for a total of 30 marks. The detailed breakdown of various assessments conducted under paper II is given below.
i) Practical Work
The Practical laboratory work exam is conducted for 15 marks. The practical examination is held for three hours. Candidates studying ISC class 12th chemistry subject are required to perform experiments from the following topics:

The project has a weightage of 10 marks. The project work will be assessed by a visiting examiner and approved by the council.
