The Income Tax Department has released the latest ITR-5 utilities for Windows, Mac and Excel - check versions, release date and eligible taxpayers.

The latest utility for filing of ITR Form 5 has been released with the new version date as August 7, 2026.

The utility for Windows is available in Version 1.0.0, with a file size of 41.7 MB. The latest version, as well as the first version of the utility, was released on August 7, 2026.

A separate Mac utility has also been made available in Version 1.0.0. The Mac version has a file size of 69.0 MB, with both its first and latest release dated August 7, 2026.

In addition, an Excel-based utility is available in Version 1.3, with a file size of 13.8 MB. The latest release of the Excel-based utility was also issued on August 7, 2026.

Who Can File ITR-5?

According to the Income Tax Department, the following entities must use the ITR-5 form:

  • Partnership Firms: Standard business partnerships.

  • LLPs: Limited Liability Partnerships.

  • AOPs: Association of Persons.

  • BOIs: Body of Individuals.

  • Cooperative Societies i.e. cooperative banks, credit societies etc.

  • Artificial legal person (ALP): Defined in section 2(31)(vii).

  • Municipal Corporations or Local Councils Local Authorities

  • Estates: The property of a person who has died or become insolvent.
