Manager of Public Sector unit arrested for demanding bribe of Rs. 1 Lakh
A Sub Area Manager from the Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Wani North Area, Wani, District- Yavatamal (Maharashtra), has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly asking and taking a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant.
The Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), Wani North Area, Sub Area Manager, Ghonsa Open Cast Mine, Wani, District- Yavatamal (Maharashtra) has been accused of soliciting a bribe from the complainant in the amount of Rs. 3,23,610/- in order to issue the delivery order for lifting the coal from the WCL Mine. Furthermore, it was claimed that although the Complainant’s firm had permission to remove 8200 MT of coal from the Ghonsa OCM, WCL, and Wani North Area, the firm was only able to remove 4623 MT of coal. Additionally, it was claimed that the accused refused to issue the new delivery order and requested a payment of Rs. 3,19,000/- in exchange for an earlier favour done for the complainant as well as the ability to issue a new delivery order for 2500 MT of coal.
When the accused demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the complainant as the first installment, the CBI set a trap and caught him in the act. Searches at the accused’s workplace and home resulted in the recovery of documents pertaining to property and other incriminating documents.
The detained suspect has been remanded to police custody until 08.02.2023, after being presented before Special Judge, CBI Cases, Kelapur, District-Yavatmal (Maharashtra).
