The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has changed the Examination format in all its MCQ-based examinations, such as NEET-PG, NEET-MDS, NEET-SS, FMGE, DNB-PDCET, GPAT, DPEE, FDST and FET which are conducted on a computer-based platform. On 23rd June, NEET-PG will be the first test to use the new format.

According to the official statement, “This measure has been implemented to enhance the security and sanctity of the exams in light of emerging threats during the examination process.”

The exam question paper will be divided into various time-bound portions in accordance with the new format. NBEMS used the following example to clarify: If the NEET PG 2024 question paper has five time-bound sections (A, B, C, D, and E), each section will have 40 questions and 42 minutes to complete it. Until they finish the specified time for the previous segment, candidates will not be allowed to move on to the next one. Furthermore, once a segment has ended and its given time has elapsed, applicants will not be permitted to examine the questions or edit their solutions. After the previous segment’s permitted time has passed, the questions for the next section will begin automatically.

All questions, whether answered or not, can be marked for review by candidates. Consequently, candidates have the option to retake the marked questions in a section before the section’s designated finish time. Remember that questions that have been flagged for review will be assessed using the marking guidelines specified in the examination’s information bulletin.

Depending on the total number of questions in the question paper and the practicality of creating such sections, the exact number of time-restricted sections in an exam may change.

Time-bound required components will be included in all next computer-based tests administered by NBEMS, including GPAT 2024, NEET-PG 2024, and others. As a result, the exam schedule listed in the NEET-PG 2024/GPAT 2024 information bulletin should be interpreted appropriately.
