NTA NEET UG: 17 NEET UG Students who appeared in Centres of Bihar have been debarred due to Malpractice

NTA NEET UG: As per the Bihar government’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) report, 17 candidates who took the NEET-UG examination from centres in Bihar on May 5, have been debarred. The report has been submitted to the Ministry of Education on Saturday. The Bihar Police’s Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) was given to the CBI for additional investigation as the careers of the students are in jeopardy.

The NEET UG was held on 5th May 2024. The exam was held across 4750 centres and a total of 24 lakh candidates appeared. For the re-test, only 813 candidates have appeared out of 1563. A total of 291 applicants appeared from Chattisgarh, 01 applicants appeared from Gujarat, 287 applicants appeared from Haryana and 234 applicants appeared from Meghalaya. No applicants have appeared in Chandigarh.

NTA officially added that “17 individuals who presented from Bihar centres were disqualified based on the feedback that was received. With this, 110 candidates have been disqualified from the exam overall this year“. Earlier, the organization had disqualified 63 applicants for using unethical exam-taking tactics. Later on, 30 additional candidates from Gujarat’s Godhara were also disqualified on Saturday.

The Bihar government’s Economic Offences Unit (EOU) had arrested 13 people who are suspect for the paper leak. The prime suspect Sikandar Yadavendu was arrested from Bihar and Bihar Police have also arrested 6 more from Jharkhand’s Deoghar district.

A brief investigation has been going on the the paper leak. The CBI has filed the FIR against the NEET-UG under IPC sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating).
