Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) is hiring applicants for the post of  Mining officer in the rank of Group-A- A under the Steel and Mines Department. There is a total of 23 vacancies for the above post.

Age Limit for OPSC Recruitment 2023:

As mentioned in the Official notification of OPSC Recruitment 2023, the minimum age limit for the above post is 21 years and the maximum age limit is 38 years.

Provided that a five-year relaxation of the upper age limit set forth above is necessary for candidates who fall under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (S.E.B.C.) category. Women, ex-servicemen, members of Scheduled Castes (S.C.), Scheduled Tribes (S.T.), and by 10 (Ten) years for people with disabilities whose permanent disability is hearing impairment 40 percent and higher. Persons with Disabilities who fall under the SEBC/SC/ST categories are eligible to benefit from a total age relaxation of up to fifteen years.

According to GA and PG Department Notification No. 9897/Gen, dt. 11.04.2022, the examination fee has been waived for all candidate categories.

Salary for OPSC Recruitment 2023:

According to the official notification of OPSC Recruitment 2023, the candidate will get a monthly salary of Rs.56100in Level 12, Cell-1 of the pay matrix in accordance with the 2017 ORSP Rules, with regular Dearness and any additional Allowances that the Government of Odisha may occasionally authorize.

Selection Procedure for OPSC Recruitment 2023:

In accordance with the official notification of OPSC Recruitment 2023. the candidate will be selected on the basis of the Written Examination and Viva Voce test.

• The written test will include 02  papers totaling 500 points.
• The queries on both pieces of writing must be of objective variety.
• Paper I (General Studies & Awareness Test) will have 200 total marks and 200 questions with a total time limit of two hours.
• Paper II (Specialisation Paper Mining Engineering) will include 150 questions, each worth two points, for a total of 300 points and three hours.
• For both General & Technical Papers, i.e., Paper-I (General Studies & Awareness Test) and Paper II (Mining Engineering), there will be negative marking for each incorrect answer or response, with a reduction of 25% (one-fourth) of the marks assigned to the particular question.
• The Viva Voce test has a maximum mark of 50 marks.

• If any aspect of an online application submitted to OPSC is determined to be lacking, it may be rejected without engaging in further communication with the applicant.
• Written and Viva Voce tests for admission will be tentative. A candidate’s application may be rejected if it is determined, upon verification at any time before or after the written examination or Viva Voce test, that they do not meet all requirements for eligibility. The Commission’s decision regarding a candidate’s eligibility or lack thereof shall be definitive.
• The agreement may be dissolved with one month’s notice from any party and without providing a cause. Only those from the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes/Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes of Odisha are eligible for concessions intended for S.E.B.C./ S.C./S.T. by birth

Certificate/ Documents for OPSC Recruitment 2023:

As mentioned in the Official notification of OPSC Recruitment 2023, candidates who are called for the Viva Voce test must bring the hard copy of their online application form, copies of their certificates, mark sheets, etc., and the originals of those documents for verification before the Viva Voce test date, which will be announced in due course. If they fail to do so, they will not be permitted to appear at the Viva Voce test.

• H.S.C. or a comparable certificate, issued by the relevant Board or Council, as proof of age.
• A degree in mining engineering from any Indian university that has been granted recognition; () Marksheets attesting to the completion of all of the aforementioned examinations (H.S.C./Degree in Mining Engineering), including any fail marks that may have been assigned by the relevant Board or Council University.

Ground of Rejection of Application for OPSC Recruitment 2023:

As mentioned in the Official notification of OPSC Recruitment 2023, applications of candidates will be rejected by the Commission on any of the following grounds:-

• In-complete online application form.
• Non-submission of hard copy of online application form at the time of verification of original documents.
• Not signing Declaration (full signature) in the hard copy of online application form
• Not having requisite qualifications as provided under Para-4 of Advertisement.
• Not passing Odia test (M.E. standard) /not furnishing Odia test pass evidence as prescribed in the Notification below.
• Submission of wrong information/ false Information about qualification/ Age/ O.T. Pass evidence / Category status (SEBC/ SC/ST/Women/ Ex-Servicemen/ PWD etc).
• Suppression of facts / information about eligibility, if any.
• Any other ground as per the decision of the Commission
