Petrol can be bought under GST if States Agree: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, stated on Wednesday that petroleum goods could be subject to the GST regime provided states reach an agreement. Speaking at a post-budget interactive session hosted by the industry group PHDCCI, she said petroleum items might be included in the GST provided the states agree. On February 18, the GST Council is expected to convene. The Finance Minister stated that the government had worked hard over the years to enhance public spending, which she claimed would fuel growth, during the interactive session with industry leaders. Sitharaman added that the government increased capital expenditure in the recently tabled budget by 33% to Rs 10 lakh crore.
