Protean eGov Receives Rs 6.28 Crore GST Demand Order from Commissioner (Appeals)
Protean eGov Technologies Limited, a leading Indian technology company that builds and manages Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) and population-scale e-governance solutions, recently issued a disclosure to NSE Ltd and BSE Ltd regarding receipt of Order-in-Appeal.
Background of the Case
The company received an Order-in-Appeal decision from the Commissioner (Appeals-II), CGST & CX, Mumbai, regarding the appeal it filed on May 28, 2025. The decision includes the following:
The authorities claim that the company claimed more Input Tax Credit (ITC) in GSTR-3B than what was available in GSTR-2A. Because of this, they raised a tax demand of Rs 6,28,07,554 under Section 73 of the CGST Act.
The company must also pay interest on this amount as per Section 50 of the CGST Act and related GST laws.
In addition, a penalty of Rs 62,80,755 has been imposed under Section 73(9) of the CGST Act and Section 20 of the IGST Act 2017.
