According to an official statement released on Wednesday, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made the online document update service for Aadhaar free until June 14.

The Aadhaar platform, used to charge households Rs. 25 to update their documentation.

The free service is offered from March 15 to June 14, 2023, for the next three months” stated the official announcement.

Aadhaar number holders may update their supporting documents in Aadhaar, at least once, by submitting proof of identity (POI) and proof of address (POA) documents, as per the Aadhaar Enrolment and Update Regulations, 2016, every ten years from the date of enrolment for Aadhaar, in order to maintain the accuracy of their information.

It’s vital to remember that this service is only provided for free on the myAadhaar portal and will continue to cost Rs. 50 at physical Aadhaar centres, as was the case in the past, according to the statement.

However, if a document is submitted to modify demographic information, usual fees will be assessed (Name, Date of Birth, Address, etc).

Due Date to link PAN & Aadhaar

The deadline for tying PAN and Aadhaar together has been set at March 31, 2023, by the Income Tax Department (I-T Dept). The Aadhaar would stop functioning on April 1 if it is not linked to the PAN by the deadline.
