No Proposal for additional 10% GST on diesel vehicles: Clarifies Nitin Gadkari
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated earlier today that he will propose a pollution tax in the form of a 10% additional GST on diesel vehicles and generators to reduce air pollution in the country.
The Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Gadkari stated and showing concern at the 63rd Annual SIAM convention here that rising levels of pollution pose a health risk to citizens.

But, now Nitin Gadkari has issued some clarification on the statement he made at 63rd Annual SIAM convention.
Via his twitter account Gadkari clarifies the following:
1. He said that there is an urgent need to clarify media reports which propagating that an additional 10% GST to be levied on the sale of diesel vehicles.
2. It is essential to point out that the government is not currently considering such a proposal. In order to meet our commitments to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2070 and lower air pollution levels caused by hazardous fuels like diesel, as well as to keep up with the tremendous expansion in automobiles sales, we must actively embrace cleaner and greener alternative fuels.
3. These fuels should be cost-effective, indigenous, and pollution-free import alternatives.
