Tripura implements AI to Identify Tax Evaders and Curb GST Evasion, says CM Manik Saha
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said the state is using artificial intelligence (AI) to detect tax evaders and will take tough action against them.
The chief minister emphasised the importance of increasing tax collection through curbing evasion and mentioned the development is laid on the tax collection.
“More taxes lead to more development. The government is taking every conceivable measure to collect taxes so that more infrastructure can be built. There have been reports of tax evasion through fake input tax credits and misuses of GST Analytics and Intelligence Network (GAIN). The tax department has implemented “Artificial Intelligence” to prevent misuse of the existing system,” he stated.
People are important partners in the state’s growth; hence, the CM asked them to file their GST.
“Those who avoid paying GST should be held accountable because the fund is essential to drive development and infrastructure construction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to make India a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. It would not be possible if we fail to build each state by 2047,” he said.
Furthermore, Saha stated that the taxation system has been integrated since the implementation of GST, and the department has begun using AI-enabled analytics tools to detect tax evasion and take the appropriate action.
“The tax evaders will have to face the law if they continue with their old practice as the system has already been strengthened,” according to him.
