The Government of India has announced a Rs. 200 commemorative coin to mark 200th anniversary of Rani Channamma’s historic victory at Kittur.

Govt Issues Rs. 200 Commemorative Coin Honouring 200th Anniversary of Rani Channamma’s Victory at Kittur
The Ministry of Finance (Department of Economic Affairs) recently shared a notification on October 22, 2025 regarding the issue of the Commemorative Coin on the occasion of 200th Anniversary of Rani Channamma’s victory at Kittur.
In powers given by clauses (d) and (e) of subsection (2) of section 24 of the Coinage Act, 2011 (11), the Central Government introduced the following rules.
1. Title and Commencement
These rules will be known as the Coinage (Issue of Commemorative Coin on the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of Rani Channamma’s victory at Kittur) Rules, 2025. The rules will come into effect on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. Denomination of Coin
The coin of Two Hundred Rupees denomination will only be coined at the mint for issue under the authority of the Central Government on the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of Rani Channamma’s victory at kittur.
3. Dimension and Composition of coin
The denomination of the coin mentioned in rule 2 will conform to the following dimensions and composition:

4. Design
The design of the coin will be as specified in the First Schedule annexed to these rules.
5. Standard weight
The standard weight of the coin of denomination referred to in rule 2 will be coined to commemorate the occasion of the 200th Anniversary of Rani Channamma’s victory at Kittur.

Obverse
This face of the coin will have the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar in the centre with the legend “सत्यमेव जयते” inscribed below, flanked on the left periphery with the word “भारत” in Devnagari script and on the right periphery with the word “INDIA” in English. It will also carry the Rupee symbol “₹” and denominational value “200” in the international numerals below the Lion Capital.
Reverse
This face of the coin will feature the image of Rani Channamma at the centre. The year ‘1824’ in international numerals will be inscribed on the right side. On the upper periphery of the coin, the inscription “दकत्तूर में रानी चन्नम्मा की जविय की 200वीं वर्षगांठ” will be written in Devnagari script and the inscription ‘200TH ANNIVERSARY OF RANI CHANNAMMA’S VICTORY AT KITTUR’ will be inscribed in English on the bottom periphery of the coin.
