The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) in Bhubaneswar has arrested a person from Mumbai named Nilesh Yogesh Jigiwala. He has been accused of being involved in a massive GST fraud of more than Rs. 325 crore.

Nilesh Jigiwala was the main person behind a big network of fake companies. These fake companies were created just to cheat the tax system and wrongly claim Input Tax Credit (ITC), as per the reports.

Investigators say that Nilesh Jigiwala used his knowledge to help large companies get government subsidies by misusing the GST numbers of small business owners who had nothing to do with the fraud. He was included in the GST scam of more than 105 fake companies.

The DGGI officers arrested him in Mumbai and then took him to Bhubaneswar for questioning. They are now trying to find out how deep the fraud goes and who else might be involved.
