Indian Government Constitutes New Authority to Watch Over Online Gaming

The Central Government has introduced a new authority called the Online Gaming Authority of India. This authority will regulate the online gaming sector by making sure online games are safe and fair for everyone.

The authority will be chaired by the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Other members of the authority include the Joint Secretaries from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Department of Financial Services (Ministry of Finance), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Department of Legal Affairs (Ministry of Law and Justice).

The Authority will verify if online games follow the law and stop any illegal or unsafe activities. It introduces steps like age verification and parental control to protect the children from gaming addiction, financial loss, or harmful content.
