CBDT Grants Approval to IIT Madras Research Park For Scientific Research
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) under the Ministry of Finance shares a notification dated August 27, 2025 in powers given by section 35(1)(iia) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 read with Rule 5F of the Income Tax Rules, 1962.
The Pr. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Exemption, Delhi, hereby grants approval to the company M/s IIT Madras Research Park (AABCU5225P), HP Lab Department of Elec. Engg, Taramanu, TTTI Taramani S.O. Chennai, Tamil Nadu-600113 for 'Scientific Research' for the purpose of Section 35(1)(iia) of the Income tax Act 1961 read with rule 5F of the Income tax Rules, 1961.
IIT Madras Research Park (IITMRP) is India's first university-based research park, established in 2006 to foster collaboration between academia and industry. It provides workspace for 3,000 professionals, including startups and research bodies and promotes energy-efficient technology development by IIT Madras.
Note: This notification will come into force from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2030 i.e. for five Assessment years (AY) from 2026-2027 to 2030-31.
