CBI arrested 3 GST officers for accepting bribe

A Superintendent, Central GST-1, Baramati, Pune (Maharashtra) has been detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation for allegedly asking and accepting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant. On the basis of a complaint, a case was filed against Superintendent, Central GST-1, Baramati, Pune. It was claimed that the Superintendent requested unfair benefit of Rs.20,000/- at first, but then decided to accept Rs.10,000/- to settle the Complainant’s labour contract dispute. The CBI set a trap for the accused, who was caught red-handed collecting a bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has been arrested a Superintendent, CGST & Central Excise, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), for allegedly requesting and accepting a bribe of Rs.2 lakh from the complainant. On complaint alleging demand of undue advantage of Rs.10,00,000/- from Complainant for settling the CGST matter against his partnership firm, a case was filed against two Superintendents of CGST & Central Excise, Arera Hills, Bhopal. On 20.04.2022, the accused consented to accept a bribe of Rs.2 lakh from the Complainant after some negotiations. The CBI set a trap for the accused, who demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.2 lakh from the complainant.

The CBI has detained a Recovery officer from DRT-I, Chandigarh, for allegedly seeking and taking a bribe of Rs.70,000/- from the complainant. A complaint was filed against the Recovery Officer, DRT-I, Chandigarh. It was claimed that the Complainant had placed a bid for the Plant & Machinery in an auction. He deposited the entire cash within the time limit because he was the highest bidder. It was further claimed that the Complainant filed an affidavit with the DRT-I office, stating that some plant and machinery had gone missing and requesting that either all of the remaining machinery be provided or an amount equal to the missing machinery be returned/ refunded to him. It was also claimed that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs.2 lakh from the complainant in exchange for the matter being settled and his money returned in whole. The accused allegedly decreased the amount on the complainant’s request and requested him to pay the minimum payment of Rs.70,000/-. The CBI set a trap for the Recovery Officer, DRT-I, who demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs.70,000 from the complainant.
