CBIC Imposes 10% Import Duty On Lentils, Extends Duty-free Import of Yellow Peas [Read Notification] The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has imposed 10% import duty on lentils and extended duty-free import of yellow peas via issuing a Notification. The Notification Read as Follows: No.16/2025-Customs In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) read with section 124 of the Finance Act, 2021 (13 of 2021) and section 110 of the Finance Act, 2018 (13 of 2018), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby amends the following notifications of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), specified in column (2) of the Table below, to the extent specified in the corresponding entries in column (3) of the said Table. This notification shall come into force with effect from 8th March, 2025. No.17/2025-Customs In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 25 of the Customs Act, 1962 (52 of 1962) read with section 124 of the Finance Act, 2021 (13 of 2021), the Central Government, on being satisfied that it is necessary in the public interest so to do, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue), No. 64/2023 Customs, dated the 7th December, 2023, published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (i), vide number G.S.R. 884(E)., dated the 7th December, 2023. In the said notification, in the Table, against S. No. 1, in Column (4), for the words and figures “28th day of February, 2025”, the words and figures “31st day of May, 2025” shall be substituted.
