China Hit Again: Govt Slaps Extra Duty on Plastic Processing Machinery Imports

The Government of India has announced its decision to impose anti-dumping duty on Plastic Processing Machinery (PPM) or Injection Moulding Machines, being exported from China and Taiwan into India.

China Hit Again: Govt Slaps Extra Duty on Plastic Processing Machinery Imports

The Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) released a notification on June 26, 2025, announcing the imposition of anti-dumping duty on Plastic Processing Machinery (PPM) or Injection Moulding Machines manufactured in or exported from China and Taiwan (hereinafter referred to as the subject countries) in India. The notification stated that the designated authorities conducted a thorough investigation on the matter and found strong evidence of:
  • The subject goods have been exported to India from the subject countries at dumped prices.
  • The domestic industry has suffered material injury on account of dumped imports from subject countries.
  • The material injury has been caused to the domestic industry by the dumped imports of subject goods from the subject countries.
The report was published as notification No. 06/09/2024-DGTR, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part I, Section 1.
Anti Dumping duty imposed on import of Methyl Cyanide: Read CBIC Notification
The DGTR final findings report had suggested the imposition of anti-dumping duty on the imports of the said goods being imported into India from the subject countries so that the domestic market does not suffer a loss. The Government of India notified (F. No. 190354/52/2025-TRU) on Thursday that in exercise of powers conferred by sub-sections (1) and (5) of section 9A of the Customs Tariff Act read with rules 18 and 20 of the Customs Tariff (Identification, Assessment and Collection of Anti-dumping Duty on Dumped Articles and for Determination of Injury) Rules, 1995, it has decided to impose anti-dumping duty on the said goods.
