Delhi Customs Seize Outbound Undeclared Diamonds Valued at Rs 1.56 crore
The Delhi Customs confiscated a batch of 1,082 carat diamonds being shipped out of India On 16th of December 2021, . On suspicion, authorities from the Air Cargo Export Commissionerate in Delhi checked a cargo labelled "plastic hot fix" with a value of Rs. 5000/-.
A packet containing pouches of cut and polished diamonds was discovered hidden ingeniously among the packs of'plastic hot fix' during an examination. To evade detection, the hot fix was put on the diamond packet. The diamonds discovered are worth Rs. 1.56 crore. The package in question was bound for Hong Kong. This appears to be a one-of-a-kind case of diamonds being shipped out of the country hidden in parcels via air cargo. This is one of the largest polished diamond seizures in recent memory at Air Cargo Export in Delhi. Investigations are also underway.
