The GST Council has issued an official notice announcing the schedule for its 56th meeting, which will be held in New Delhi on September 3 and September 4, 2025, starting from 11:00 AM on both days. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will chair the meeting. Apart from this, an officer's Meeting will take place on September 2, 2025, from 11 A.M. The exact venue and detailed agenda will be shared soon by the GST Council Secretariat. Recently, the Group of Members (GoM) has approved the central government's proposal to end the current 12% and 28% tax rates and shift towards a two-slab structure of 5% and 18%. This topic will be discussed at its 56th meeting.
