GSTAT Chennai Bench Functional: Appeals Directed To Be Filed via Bengaluru Bench The GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Chennai Bench, has released a public notice dated April 1, 2026, addressed to all stakeholders, including taxpayers, competent departmental authorities, authorised representatives, and other concerned parties, informing them about its functionality and operations. The bench is presently operating from its temporary office at the 2nd Floor, Narmada Block, Customs House, 60 Rajaji Salai, Chennai - 600001. The GST Appellate Tribunal, Chennai Bench, has jurisdiction over several districts of Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, Vellore, Thirupathur, Ranipet, and Thiruvannamalai, as notified by the Department of Revenue (Ministry of Finance) through a Notification No. S.O. 5063(E), dated November 26, 2024.

As per the notice, the bench will hear appeals and applications furnished under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017; the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 [except the appeals/applications as provided under Section 109(5) of the CGST Act, 2017 and relevant notifications]; and the Tamil Nadu Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, along with applicable rules. Now, all the appeals and related matters falling under the prescribed jurisdictions must be filed before the Bengaluru Bench. These filings must be strictly in compliance with the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (Procedure) Rules, 2025, along with other applicable legal and administrative guidelines issued from time to time.
