Big Update! Most Awaited GSTAT Hyderabad Bench Is Now Functional: Effective April 20, 2026
The Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Hyderabad Bench, has officially notified the commencement of its operations at its temporary office, located at 3rd Floor, GST Bhavan, LB Stadium Road, Basheerbagh, Hyderabad, with effect from April 20, 2026.
This aforementioned update has been announced through a Notification F.No: GSTAT/HYD/2026/2/NOTIFICATIONS, dated April 17, 2026, for general information to all stakeholders, including taxpayers, departmental authorities, authorised representatives, advocates and other concerned parties.
The GSTAT Hyderabad bench, through a Department of Revenue Notification No. S.O. 5063(E) dated November 26, 2024, has been directed to exercise its jurisdiction over Telangana State and handle appeals furnished under the CGST Act, 2017; the Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Telangana Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017.
If a taxpayer does not fix the default mentioned in the defect notice within the time limit of 7 days, then under the provisions of Rule 24 of GSTAT Procedure Rules, the case will be sent to the Registrar. After which, the Registrar will have the authority to grant more time to the taxpayer if there is a valid reason; however, this extra time cannot be more than 30 days.
In order to address procedural defects in appeals, such as court fees, documentation, etc., sessions will be commenced from April 20, 2026, at 11:30 AM. As per the announcement, a daily cause list will be released one day before the case listing and will be sent to the associated individuals, such as the Taxpayers/ Jurisdictional AC/DCs (appellants) and the Tax Practitioners' Association, through an email ID until the official website is functional. All the stakeholders have been advised to track their cases and attend to defect rectification.
