Based on the IIT Bombay Recruitment 2023 Official Employment Notice, the Eligibility comprising Essential Qualifications and Experience for the notified Student Counselor (Scale-I) Post should be read hereunder:

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology with Minimum 55% Marks or Equivalent Grade Point Average with relevant experience of 06-years after having obtained the qualifying degree, out of which three years should be in Counseling at an academic/medical institution. (Or)

Master’s Degree in Psychology with Minimum 55% Marks or Equivalent Grade Point Average and a Diploma in Mental and/or Social Psychology with 06-Years’ relevant experience after the Diploma, out of which 03 years should be in Counseling at an Academic/Medical Institution.

For applicants with Ph.D. (Philosophiae Doctor) Degree in relevant discipline. Duration of Ph.D. (Doctor Philosophiae) up to 03 years would be counted towards Experience.

Desirable :

i) Additional Certifications in Mental Health or Counselling.

ii) Require Good Verbal, Written Skills, ability to communicate adequately with diverse students and various stakeholders.

iii) Minimum 03-years’ experience in Psychological Counselling of Young adults living in a fully Residential Campus of an Academic Institution of repute.

Selection Procedure under IIT Bombay Recruitment 2023:

Selection for the Student Counselor (Scale-I) Post consists of 02 Phases. First phase being the Online Written Test. The second phase is the Interview. The Selection Process for the Student Counsellor (Scale-I) involves Scrutiny/Screening of the Applications. Applications received from the candidates in response to the IIT Bombay Recruitment 2023 Official Advertisement will be scrutinized and only scrutiny-in Applicants will be called for the Selection Process.

The Controller of Examinations shall conduct a Written Test for shortlisting the candidates for the Interview. The marks obtained in the Written Examination will not be carried forward for further Selection Process. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for the final round of the selection process, i.e., an interview. The final selection will be carried out through Interviews.

On the basis of the performance of candidates in the Written Test, a shortlist of maximum 07 candidates, in the order of merit, will be drawn, subject to they getting marks above the cut-off as specified below (in case of Tie in Marks/Score, all the candidates with Equal marks may be called for further selection process). The Cut-off percentage (Absolute or Normalised basis) for ST candidate is 40. Only such shortlisted candidates will be called for the final interview.
