Match Form 16 with Form 26AS

- Ensure the match between the salary income in Form 16 and Form 26AS. Points such as differences in salary, perquisites, deductions and allowances should be considered.
- Look for any sort of omissions in the employer's entries.
- Check whether the TDS deducted in Form 16 matches the TDS details in Form 26AS.
How to Resolve if Any Mismatch is Found
In case there is any mismatch found in Forms 16 or 26AS, the taxpayer must inform about the mismatch to the employer responsible for TDS deduction. The employer shall then provide a revised TDS return. The taxpayer can also submit a grievance through the income tax department's e-filing portal.
