Red Corner Notice Issued Against Gangster Goldy Brar by INTERPOL; CBI Clarifies

According to media sources, Punjab police filed a proposal to the CBI on May 19, 2022, requesting that INTERPOL issue a Red Corner Notice (RCN) in the name of Goldy Brar, paving the path for his extradition.

According to reports, the CBI’s International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU) in New Delhi manages requests for informal coordination through INTERPOL from sister law enforcement agencies, including requests for the issuing of color-coded notices. IPCU, CBI analyzes requests for eligibility in accordance with INTERPOL’s Rules of Data Processing to ensure that they are complete and that notices are issued promptly. INTERPOL (HQ), Lyon (France), issues the final notices in accordance with the Rules for Data Processing.

The proposal for the issuing of a Red Notice (RCN) against SATINDERJEET SINGH alias GOLDY was received by e-mail from the Punjab Police Bureau of Investigation on May 30, 2022, at 12:25 PM. A copy of the letter dated 19-05-2022 was attached to this e-mail dated 30-05-2022. On May 30, 2022, Punjab police sent a hard copy of the identical plan to IPCU, CBI, New Delhi.

The Red Notice proposal was quickly forwarded to INTERPOL (Headquarters), Lyon on 02-06-2022 after processing for validation of pre-requisite requirements.

According to Punjab Police’s proposal, the request for the issuance of a Red Notice (RCN) relates to two cases investigated by Punjab Police in the years 2020 and 2021, namely FIR No.409 dated 12-11-2020 and FIR No.44 dated 18-02-2021, both of which were filed at Police Station City Faridkot, Faridkot District (Punjab). Even though this request was received by IPCU CBI on May 30, 2022, the murder of Shri Sidhu Moose Wala occurred on May 29, 2022, according to public records.

The request for the issuance of a Red Notice against Shri Harwinder Singh Rinda has already been forwarded to INTERPOL (HQ) Lyon, according to the report.

It is further noted that INTERPOL channels are utilised for informal international police-to-police coordination, and that a Red Notice is neither mandatory nor a pre-requisite for submitting an Extradition request, particularly when the subject’s whereabouts is known.

CBI has been aiding all law enforcement agencies in international cooperation and has vowed to assisting in the greatest feasible way through various international channels.
