Linking PAN card with Aadhaar from April 1 could attract a fine of up to Rs 1,000. The government has fixed March 31 this year as the last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary told Parliament in response to a question related to PAN-Aadhaar link that a new section 234-H has been added in the Income Tax Act, 1961 to complete this process.

Under this section, if a person does the work of linking PAN and Aadhaar after the due date, then he will be fined up to a maximum of Rs 1,000. Earlier this limit was September 30, 2021. But due to corona infection, it was increased to 31 March 2022. A notification in this regard was issued on September 17 last year. Even before this, the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar has been extended several times.

UIDAI had told in a tweet recently that there is a simple way to e-verify Income Tax Return (ITRF) using your Aadhaar. If your Aadhaar is linked with PAN, you can e-verify your ITR using Aadhaar. Please note that your mobile number should be registered with Aadhaar to avail of this service.
