CBI arrested 2 Hyderabad based GST Officials in Bribery Case The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a complaint against a Superintendent and an Inspector from the office of the Principal Commissionerate of Central Tax, GST Hyderabad Commissionerate, for allegedly harassing and extorting Rs.5 lakh from a man. According to the complaint, the accused authorities threatened to levy GST on him for an alleged infraction. "Further, he claimed that the GST officers seized his iron scrap shop, demanded and accepted Rs.5 lakh as illegal gratification, and demanded another Rs.3 lakh to open the sealed premises," the CBI said in an official release on August 13. Following the case, the CBI conducted searches at two locations in Hyderabad related to the case and retrieved some incriminating documents. Further investigation is underway.
