GST Joint Commissioner Suspended for Charges of Bribery The Commercial Tax Department (GST) has suspended the GST Joint Commissioner for the charges of Bribery. The Joint Commissioner of the Chhattisgarh State GST was suspended for reportedly misbehaving with a businessman and requesting bribes to resolve some tax matters. According to the office of the commissioner, state GST, Chhattisgarh, a complaint has been filed against joint commissioner Deepak Giri, who is assigned to Division No.2, Bilaspur in the State GST.

The joint commissioner has been suspended pursuant to Rule 9(1) of the Chhattisgarh Civil Service (Classification, Regulation, and Appeal) Rules 1966. As per the Commissioner of State GST, the joint commissioner's headquarters will be the GST headquarters at Nava Raipur Atal Nagar during the suspension period. Sources said that a coaching facility owner in Bilaspur reported to the joint commissioner that the former misbehaved with him and demanded a bribe.
