ICAI President CA Charanjot Singh Nanda Highlights India’s Economic Strength, GST Growth and Reforms
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India's (ICAIs) President, CA Charanjot Singh Nanda, recently shared a message on December 31, 2025 to all professional colleagues regarding India's Economic Strength.
ICAI's president added, India’s economy is doing really well. In the second quarter of 2025, the country grew by an impressive 8.2%, much higher than the global average of around 3.2%. This shows that India is playing a big role in driving the world economy. Prices are stable and not rising too fast, which makes it a good time for people to invest and prosper. The Reserve Bank of India has even raised its growth forecast for 2026 to 7.3%, up from 6.8%, showing that the economy is expected to keep doing well despite global challenges. Overall, 2025 ended on a high note, and 2026 has begun with a lot of hope and opportunity for everyone.
He added, India is seeing a big boom in new businesses, with more than 4.15 lakh startups popping up. Around 75,000 of these are led by women, showing that opportunities are opening up for everyone. These startups have already created over 17 lakh jobs, turning people’s ideas into real work and giving them a chance to succeed.
He also discussed some recent developments. Following the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision of strengthening Indian firms and showcasing India's professional excellence on the global stage, the ICAI has approved a landmark set of reforms, such as:
- Revision in Code of Ethics
- ICAI (Global Networking) Guidelines, 2025
